Woodcarving for Beginners & Intermediates through Community Education

Mark Your Calendars! Our Woodcarvers, Nick Reindl and Herb Johnson, are offering a special woodcarving class through Community Ed that is open to members and the public.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn basic carving concepts and skills, with an emphasis on safety. Instruction will focus on simple figure carving and chip carving. Other forms of carving, such as relief and flat plane carving, will be discussed.

Equipment Needs: A sharp carving knife and a carving glove (filet glove). Essential tools and supplies will be available for loan or purchase during the class. Participants are encouraged to bring their own carving tools if they have them.

This six-session course begins Saturday, February 28, and ends April 4, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All sessions will be held in the Woodcarver Room on the fourth floor of The Center.

The cost of the class is $30 per person for all 6 sessions, and there will be a minimum of 5 participants and a maximum of 15.

Participants must sign up through Brainerd Community Ed here. Brainerd Public Schools https://isd181.ce.eleyo.com/
