Wellness

The Center has many fun and low-impact ways to enjoy Active Aging:

Bone Builders Chair Exercise relies on weight training to protect against fractures caused by osteoporosis by increasing muscular strength and bone density. Classes are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:00 to 11:30 am. Each person completes the exercises at their own capabilities.

Chair Yoga: Jillian teaches chair yoga in the 3rd-floor conference room every Wednesday from 3:45-4:45 pm. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that’s accessible to everyone—no matter your age or fitness level. By using the support of a chair, you can safely improve flexibility, build strength, and enhance balance without needing to get down on the floor. It also helps reduce stress, increase circulation, and boost overall energy. Whether you’re easing into movement for the first time or looking for a mindful way to stay active, chair yoga is a wonderful way to support your body and mind. Sign-up is not required, and drop-ins are welcome. Goodwill donations are encouraged.

Clogging: Have you ever been curious about clogging? This style of dancing is a lively, rhythmic dance style where dancers create percussive sounds with their feet—similar to tap dancing but with its own steps and timing. It’s often done to bluegrass, country, or folk music and is popular at festivals, community events, and social gatherings. Center member, Audrey Powers, has offered to teach clogging and there is a signup sheet at the front desk for those who want to know more. Audrey will work with those who want to participate to pick a day and time that works for everyone. This is a great opportunity to stay active during the cold winter months!

Exercise Rooms: We have two wonderful and well-equipped exercise rooms that are available for members to use Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. These rooms include treadmills, recumbent bikes, a row machine, an elliptical, exercise bikes, exercise balls, a Bosu ball, weight benches, stretch machines, and a Hoist workout machine. You only need your membership and a little motivation! NOTE: Please complete a release form release before you begin using these rooms. These forms are available at our front desk.

Snowshoes are available for check-out during the snow season.  Sign out one of our 20 pairs of snowshoes and enjoy the beauty of our Minnesota winters as you exercise outdoors. The Northland Arboretum has groomed trails for snowshoers.

Zumba Gold:  Join our Zumba group on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:00 a.m. You’ll have so much fun you won’t even know you’re exercising! This is an awesome program, just ask those who participate.
