Our Plant Sale is Taking Shape!
As many of you know, the annual spring plant sale (May 14-16th) is one of the largest fundraisers for The Center and plant-related activities are ongoing throughout the year. Currently, our volunteers are busy with seeding and tending to those sprouting plants.

This done primarily in the 2nd floor “plant room” room 204 and seeding takes place on a nearly weekly basis until the end of April.

In mid-March, the heat to the greenhouse, located on the corner of Thiesse Road and County Road 25, is turned on and systems become operational. Transplanting begins once the building is functioning properly. Once plants are established in the greenhouse, daily monitoring, including watering, is required. This may entail up to three visits per day, depending on temperature, sun, and overall weather conditions. A group of up to seven volunteers would be ideal for sharing the monitoring activities. This includes watering plants until the big sale in May is over and plants are removed from The Center grounds.

So, as you can see, this is a huge undertaking so it’s “all-hands-on-deck!” time! Our plant sale draws hundreds of shoppers every year who are eager to buy the quality plants (that include vegetable and flower plants).
Our Plant Team appreciate all help, so if you are interested in helping with this fundraiser, contact Kathy Tusa, Nick Reindl, or Becky and Trina in the Admin office.
And mark your calendars for May 14-16th!
